Higher Compensation to Bhopal Victims to be discussed at GOM Meeting

Ambika Soni, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting said here this afternoon that one of the main issues of discussion in the GoM meeting to be held on Friday will the compensation to be given to the gas victims. Reports reveal that the distribution of the compensation amount was not fair and even. While the general public struggled to get the compensation amount, the influential people managed to get a handsome sum upto a few lakhs. Some of the gas affected people are still struggling to prove that they are victims of the Gas Tragedy, while some of them died during the course of their struggle for delayed and denied justice. So there have been demonstrations and appeals from the public to the government to give them their due, thereby do justice, even if it be after 25 years. Meanwhile the BJP has been lashing out at the Congress for its irresponsible conduct 25 years back as well as in the present. It has demanded the ruling party to be more accountable and answerable to the public.
