As the case of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy is gaining momentum after a callous judgement by the court, sentencing the convicts to 2 years of jail and then granting them bail, the fact that the ministers, top officials and the UCIL were hand in glove, right from the time the mishap occurred on 3rd Dec., 1984, the fishy escape of Anderson from India to the US and followed by the 25 years of suffering of the people of Bhopal and the convicts eluding the courts.
Now the press has asked the then Chief Minister to answer all its questions within 10 days. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sought the re[port of the GoM within 10 days while Sonia Gandhi's silence in this case is very conspicuous. The involvement of the late Rajiv Gandhi in Anderson's escape has made her silence even more suspicious. Babulal Gaur, minister for the Gas Relief and Rehabilitation, commented today that there wad no point in blaming only Arjun Singh for the entire episode. "All the governments were passive and apathetic towards the gas victims," he said. Such an open and irresponsible comment has put the BJP in a difficult position, as the BJP was throwing a volley of questions at the accountability of the Congress Party. Now a comment by their own party man has put them in an embarrassing position. |
