While preparing a database of Birds of Bhopal, I thought of which are most common birds of Bhopal. The first name that clicked was Sparrow. Sparrows are definitely one of the common birds but not the most common. I see more of Bulbuls and Lapwings around me as compared to House Sparrows. So I thought of listing the birds I see most often around me in Bhopal. Here I am listing 10 Birds which I have found to be most common in Bhopal. The list is in random order and its sequence doesn't mean anything.
Red Vented Bulbul
Red Wattled Lapwing
White Breasted Kingfisher (white-throated kingfisher)
There are few more easily spotted varieties like Oriental Magpie Robin, Black Drongo, Jungle Babbler, Indian Roller, Rufus Treepie, Common Myna, Green Bee Eater, Indian cuckoo, barbet, barn owl, Grey Hornbill, Rose Ringed Parakeets, rock pigeon, swallow, Ashy Prinia, Peafowl, Tailor Bird, Rock Chat, Lesser Whistling Ducks, Plain Prinia, intermediate egret, Black Kite, Black Shouldered Kite and Common Crow.
For the larger list, I discussed this on a WhatsApp group I share with few Birder friends. If you think I am wrong or some bird is missing, please comment accordingly and I will change.
