Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, a UNESCO World Heritage Site 45 km from Bhopal, contain some of the oldest known rock art in India with paintings dating back over 30000 years. Over 700 rock shelters in the Vindhya hills depict hunting scenes, animals, dances and daily life across multiple prehistoric periods.
